Common Questions

Frequently asked,
thoughtfully answered.

A few of the questions our patients ask most often. If yours isn't here, please call us on 020 7499 8822 or drop us a line — we'd be happy to help.

i.

Booking & Visits

  • How do I book a consultation?

You can book by calling 020 7499 8822, emailing hello@cavendishsmile.co.uk, or using our enquiry form. We'll respond within one working day to schedule a 60-minute consultation at a time that suits you.

  • Do I need a referral from another dentist?

No referral is required. Many of our patients arrive directly, often having heard about the studio from a friend or family member. We're equally happy to receive referrals from other practitioners and to write back to your existing dentist with our findings if you wish.

  • What should I bring to my first appointment?

Just yourself. If you have recent dental records, x-rays, or a list of medications from another practice, those can be helpful — but they're not required. We'll take fresh imaging and a full history at your consultation.

  • How long is a typical visit?

A first consultation is 60 minutes. Routine examinations are 45 minutes; treatment sessions vary by procedure. We never double-book and we never run late — your time is part of the treatment.

  • Are appointments available outside working hours?

Yes — Saturday morning appointments are available by request. Existing patients also have access to an out-of-hours emergency line for urgent issues.

Treatments & Care

  • Do you treat nervous patients?

Yes — a significant proportion of our patients describe themselves as nervous of dentistry. We offer extended consultation times, optional oral or IV sedation, calm pre-treatment rooms, and a deliberately unhurried approach. Many patients find their first visit dispels years of anxiety.

  • How long do porcelain veneers last?

With proper care, modern porcelain veneers typically last 15–20 years. We use only high-quality materials, and we'll recommend a maintenance plan tailored to your bite, lifestyle, and the way you eat. Composite bonding is a less invasive alternative — we'll always discuss both at consultation.

  • Are dental implants suitable for everyone?

Most adults are candidates for implants, though a thorough assessment of bone density and general health is essential. Where bone augmentation is needed, we can perform this in-house alongside the implant placement, often in a single visit under sedation.

  • Can children be seen at the practice?

Yes — we see children from age 3 with longer appointment slots and a gentle, playful tone. Our hygiene therapist runs preventive sessions designed specifically for younger patients, and we coordinate with parents on diet and brushing routines.

  • What cosmetic options exist beyond veneers?

Composite bonding, professional whitening (in-chair or take-home), gum contouring, and full Invisalign orthodontics — often combined into a single, sequenced treatment plan. We'll discuss every option at your consultation, including alternatives that may achieve your goals at lower cost.

iii.

Fees & Insurance

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We offer 0% interest finance over 12 months on treatments above £1,000, subject to status, through Tabeo. Longer-term finance (24–60 months) is available at standard rates for larger treatment plans.

  • Do you accept dental insurance?

We accept all major UK dental insurance and private health plans, including Bupa, AXA, Vitality, WPA, Cigna, and Denplan. Please bring your policy details to your first appointment, and we'll confirm what's covered before any treatment begins.

  • Will I receive a written quote before treatment?

Always. Every treatment plan is itemised in writing, with prices, timings, materials, and alternatives clearly laid out. You take it home, you decide. There is no pressure to proceed at consultation.

  • Are there hidden costs?

No. Our quoted fee includes materials, laboratory work, and all required follow-up appointments — unless otherwise specified in writing in advance. If anything changes mid-treatment, you'll be informed and approve the change before any extra cost is incurred.

  • Where can I see a full price list?

Our complete fee schedule is published openly at cavendishsmile.co.uk/fees. We believe in pricing transparency — no hidden tiers, no "from POA" entries, and no surprises.

iv.

Practice & Access

  • Where exactly is the practice?

14 Cavendish Square, Marylebone, London W1G 0EE — on the south side of Cavendish Square Gardens. Oxford Circus tube is a 4-minute walk; Bond Street is 6. The studio occupies three floors of a restored Georgian townhouse.

  • Is parking available?

Yes — we offer complimentary on-square parking for all consultation appointments (one parking permit per visit, validated at reception). For longer treatment sessions, we recommend the Cavendish Square car park, which is a 1-minute walk away.

  • Is the practice wheelchair accessible?

Yes. We have step-free access from the street, a ground-floor consultation suite, and lift access to the upper floors. Please let us know in advance and we'll prepare the ground-floor surgery for your visit.

  • Do you offer in-house laboratory work?

For most veneer and crown work we collaborate with a dedicated London ceramicist whose work has been featured in leading dental aesthetics journals. For digital workflows (3D scans, milled restorations), we have an in-house CEREC mill, allowing same-day restorations where appropriate.

  • Can I bring a friend or partner to my consultation?

Of course. Our consultation rooms are designed to accommodate a companion, and we welcome the second perspective — especially for cosmetic decisions or treatment plans involving recovery time.
